Julia Roberts in Bali

Did you see Eat Pray Love movie?

Her movie based on Pushcart Prize winner Elizabeth Gilbert’s spirituality/travel memoir (played by Roberts), “Eat, Pray, and Love” is about her self-discovery and soul-searching after her nasty divorce, exploring through India, Italy, and Bali, the last paradise on earth.

After reveling in cuisine in Italy and exploring spirituality in India ashram (hermitage), she will find a balance between worldly pleasures and divine ascendancy in Bali where she will study with a ninth-generation medicine man and immerse in a love affair.

Julia Roberts will star as the book's narrator, Elizabeth, whose search for identity following her divorce takes her to Italy, India, and Bali. One-third of the story takes place in Bali where the main character finds love, healing, and mentoring of a Balinese guru in Ubud. "Eat, Pray, Love" is the first multi-million dollar Hollywood feature film to be shot in Bali and it is hoped it will kick-start the island's reputation for international film locations and production.

Bali; known for its surf, rice terraces, beaches, temple ceremonies, dances, etc.; is one of the 33 provinces of Indonesia and its largest tourist destination. About 93 percent population is Hindu. Gilbert met Wayan, a traditional Balinese healer, and Ketut Liyer, a medicine man, in Ubud.

A local production company in Bali’s capital Denpasar reportedly held a casting session to pick about 100 local actors for the movie, which lasted two days. Shooting will reportedly be held in Kuta, Ubud, Tegalalang, Nusa Dua Beach, Jimbaran, and other exotic places in Bali from October 15 to November 11, 2009.

Aimed at a release in 2011 and directed by Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck); “Eat, Pray, Love” also stars Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men), Richard Jenkins (The Visitor), Viola Davis (Doubt), Billy Crudup (Almost Famous), James Franco (Pineapple Express), Luca Argentero (Lezioni di Cioccolato), etc.

You should buy this movie which is available in DVD and Blu-ray format.

The film, produced by Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner of Plan B Entertainment, is expected to be a blockbuster at box offices around the globe in 2010. The shooting location is in Gianyar, Karangasem, and Jimbaran; witch much of the filming set to take place around the hillside village of Ubud.

Let’s go to Bali, so we can visit Ubud and other fantastic places in Bali.
